Borussia Mönchengladbach have officially confirmed the nature of Yuchym Konoplya's injury, which the Ukrainian suffered in a friendly against Rot-Weiss. After undergoing medical tests, the 26-year-old defender was diagnosed with a rupture of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee. The club stated that Konoplya will be sidelined for the coming weeks, though they did not specify an exact recovery timeline. Sporting director Ruwen Schreder expressed support for the newcomer. "We all feel very sorry for Yukhym. He made an excellent start at the club, brought a lot of energy, and showed his strength in training right away. But he is a fighter. Right after learning the diagnosis, he showed the right attitude and is already working on his comeback. For our part, we will do everything to help him recover as soon as possible," Schreder said. Konoplya suffered the injury in the 12th minute of the friendly after a heavy tackle. It was only his second appearance for the German side since his summer move.
