York City turn to Scott Lindsey after shock sacking of title-winning manager

York City moved swiftly to appoint Scott Lindsey as their new head coach on Monday, just a day after the surprise dismissal of Stuart Maynard, the man who led the club back to the English Football League. Maynard was sacked on Sunday despite a historic season that saw the Minstermen win the National League title with a staggering 108 points, ending a decade-long exile from the EFL. A dramatic stoppage-time winner against Rochdale secured automatic promotion, but the club's board - owned by Matt and Julie-Anne Uggla - cited differences in vision as the reason for the split. Lindsey, 54, arrives with a strong track record in the lower leagues.
