Karpaty Lviv sign Spanish defender Ivan Calero

Lviv-based Karpaty have officially announced the signing of right-back Ivan Calero. The 31-year-old Spaniard joins from Cultural Leonesa, where he had been playing since September 2025. The contract is structured as a two-year deal with an optional third year. According to Transfermarkt, the transfer fee amounts to €450,000. During the 2025/26 season, Calero made 35 appearances across all competitions for the Spanish side (the second division and Copa del Rey), scoring five goals and providing five assists. Notably, in the second half of the 2021/22 campaign, the defender already worked under Karpaty's current head coach Fran Fernández while on loan at Alcorcón, featuring in 16 matches and netting once. Calero's career also includes stints at Atlético Madrid (youth), Derby County, Burton Albion, Sparta Rotterdam, Elche, Salamanca, Numancia, Málaga, Cartagena, and Real Zaragoza.
