Goretzka offers himself to Barcelona, yet Catalans are in no rush

Leon Goretzka has offered his services to Barcelona as a free agent, according to journalist Matteo Moretto. The 31-year-old German midfielder is eager to work under Hansi Flick, and his interest in the move reportedly grew stronger after Frenkie de Jong suffered a serious injury. In Goretzka's view, Barcelona may soon need extra cover in central midfield. Barcelona's response, however, has been guarded. The club's leadership is not planning to strengthen the center of the pitch and does not consider Goretzka a realistic option. Despite the player's willingness to join the Catalan side, a transfer in the near future looks unlikely. Goretzka has made over 312 appearances for Bayern Munich, scoring 51 goals and providing 53 assists. He has been valuable to the club both in breaking up opposition attacks and in attacking phases.
