Skrypnyk: Zorya's opening UPL win over Kolos a major confidence boost

Viktor Skrypnyk said Zorya's opening win of the Ukrainian Premier League season was a good sign for a team still learning to play together. The Luhansk club took three points from its first game against Kolos in Kyiv, scoring both goals after halftime. Skrypnyk acknowledged that several new players are still settling in, even if they understand what he wants. In his view, friendlies can't fully prepare a team for the real competition, so the fast start in the league means something. He also insisted that winning the opener always matters, especially against a solid opponent. The Zorya coach felt the red card changed the course of the match. From that point, his team needed to stay patient, keep pressing and find something creative in attack. He asked his players at halftime to keep going and promised the goals would come; the second-half performance proved him right. Now Skrypnyk is focused on maintaining that positivity. Zorya's next test comes Sunday, August 9, when they host Kryvbas.
