Dovbyk explains Bologna choice: 'I want to get back to my best'

Artem Dovbyk has explained why he chose Bologna, with the Ukrainian striker joining the club on loan from Roma. The 29-year-old opened up in comments released by Bologna's press service and made clear that the sporting director and Domenico Tedesco were key to convincing him. Tedesco, the coach, asked him one simple question. "He asked me: 'Do you want to play for Bologna?' I said yes, of course," Dovbyk said. "He outlined the project, the club's ambitions and what they want to achieve this season. I simply want to help and give my best." Dovbyk described his first impressions as overwhelmingly positive, calling the squad a close family where everyone fights for one another. He also knows Bologna well from past meetings and feels the team has improved a lot in recent years. "I'm hungry to play. I want to get back to my best level, score goals and help this team," he added. "It's a big honor to be the first Ukrainian player in Bologna's history, and I want to achieve something meaningful with the club." Earlier reports said Castro has joined Roma.
