Bernardo Silva reveals why Real Madrid move was a no-brainer and what he expects from Mourinho

Bernardo Silva has opened up about his move to Real Madrid, admitting that when the Spanish side came calling, there was only one possible answer. The Portugal midfielder joined Los Blancos this summer as a free agent after his Manchester City deal expired. He says he has settled quickly and already feels at home, despite the demanding nature of his first training sessions. "This club doesn't need words because its history speaks for itself. The first session was tough, but I was happy to meet the group. I know many of the players from facing them, and everyone trains at such a high level," Silva said. The 31-year-old also spoke about José Mourinho, who will now be his coach for the first time. Silva made it clear that working with the Portuguese tactician means a lot to him. "We were rivals a few times, and now we are on the same side. Mourinho means so much to Portuguese football. Growing up, we followed his teams closely, and he has always put Portugal on the map. I'm grateful for the chance to learn from him," he explained. Silva admitted that after so many matches against Real, he already knew what the club and the Santiago Bernabéu represent. Moving closer to his family, and to Portugal, made the decision even easier. He described playing for the best club in football history as a privilege. His contract with Real Madrid runs until the summer of 2028.
