Manchester City make formal offer for Marseille's Gerónimo Rulli

Manchester City have taken the first concrete step in their pursuit of a new goalkeeper, sending a formal offer to Marseille for Gerónimo Rulli. The news was reported by leading transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. The two clubs are now locked in active negotiations, with the deal described as progressing. The offer follows last week's reports of City's interest in strengthening their goalkeeping department. Rulli is seen as the direct replacement for James Trafford, who is expected to leave the club in the near future. City boss Enzo Maresca is keen on the signing, and the 34-year-old Argentine has already given the green light to a move to the Etihad. Rulli joined Marseille in the summer of 2024 from Ajax for €4m. He made 39 appearances in all competitions last season. His contract with the French club runs until the summer of 2027, and Transfermarkt values him at €6m.
