Trabzonspor announces Mohamed Salah signing in surprise move

Mohamed Salah is heading to Turkey. Trabzonspor announced a deal for the 34-year-old Egyptian forward, who became a free agent this summer after ending his nine-year spell at Liverpool. The Turkish club, the third-strongest team in the national league last season, got the better of a race that included Saudi Arabian interest. Salah will sign a one-year contract with an option for another season, earning €23m per campaign. Agent and bonus payments worth €20m are also part of the agreement. The commercial terms stand out: Salah is entitled to 100% of profits from overseas sales of Trabzonspor shirts bearing his name, plus 25% from similar sales within Turkey. Salah's presentation is scheduled for August 5 at noon local time at the general aviation terminal of Istanbul's Atatürk Airport.
