Amorim: Milan Must Fight for Europa League and Serie A Glory

Ruben Amorim has laid out a clear vision for Milan after taking over as head coach. The Portuguese coach replaced the dismissed Massimiliano Allegri at the start of the summer and used his press conference to set the tone for the season. "The main thing is to go match by match. We have enough quality in this squad to win in any competition. Step by step, we can achieve something significant. In the Europa League, we have to believe we can win it. In Serie A, many opponents will have an advantage because their coaches have been in place for a long time. But I cannot sit here at Milan and say we are not capable of becoming champions," Amorim said. He acknowledged that plenty of work lies ahead, with a new coach and a squad reshuffle in progress. Even so, Amorim insisted a club of Milan's standing must challenge for silverware. He also stressed that Champions League qualification remains fundamental for both finances and prestige. Milan finished fifth in Serie A last season.
