João Pedro at the double, Caicedo stunner as Chelsea down Milan to lift Indonesia Super Cup
0
Chelsea finished their preseason tour on a high note by beating Milan 3-0 in Jakarta and claiming the 2026 Indonesia Super Cup. Xabi Alonso's team needed a response after friendly losses to Tottenham and Juventus, and they delivered in style.
The breakthrough arrived in first-half stoppage time. João Pedro, who had already wasted two good chances, got his redemption by heading in from a corner from six yards out. Milan, coached by former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, had trouble creating anything meaningful, and Chelsea made that pay early in the second half.
Pedro Neto found João Pedro at the far post with a low cross, and the Brazilian doubled his tally past Lorenzo Torriani. Four minutes later, captain Moisés Caicedo produced a moment worthy of winning any game: the ball broke to him on the edge of the box after a messy corner, and he met it on the half-volley with the outside of his right boot, bending it into the far corner. The woodwork denied Giovanni Quenda and Nicolas Jackson as Chelsea pushed for more.
Mykhailo Mudryk got a late runout, coming on for João Pedro in the 85th minute. The Ukrainian winger is working his way back after a 20-month suspension, having returned to action on August 5 in Hong Kong during Chelsea's 1-0 friendly defeat to Juventus.
Chelsea wrap up their preseason schedule on Sunday against Malaysian champions Johor Darul Ta'zim, with kickoff at 15:00 Kyiv time. The Blues then begin the 2026/27 Premier League season on August 24 with a London derby against Fulham.
