Jensen saves four as Millwall beat QPR in League Cup shootout

Lucas Jensen turned the penalty shootout into a one-man show as Millwall moved into the second round of the Carabao Cup. The Danish goalkeeper saved all four QPR spot kicks, and the Lions won 2-0 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Loftus Road. Players and fans paid tribute to former Millwall manager Kenny Jackett, who died in June, before kickoff. QPR started the stronger side, and Casper De Norre had to clear the ball after a dangerous attempt by Ilias Chair. It was a lively opening, but neither side managed a shot on target in the first half. The match came alive after the interval. Boy Kemper, making his debut, came close to putting QPR ahead, only for Jensen to deny his close-range header. Moments later Millwall struck. QPR goalkeeper Pierce Charles, on loan from Manchester City and also making his debut, tried to pass the ball out to Camiel Neghli but sent it straight to Luke Cundle, who made no mistake to put Millwall in front. QPR kept pushing and got their equalizer with four minutes left in regulation. Ilias Chair's corner was met by Jimmy Dunne, and the ball deflected off Millwall defender Mark Sykes and found the net to make it 1-1. The shootout belonged to Jensen. Pierce Charles briefly gave the home fans hope by saving from Neghli and Tyreik Arconte, but Jensen was emphatic, keeping out Chair, Harvey Vale, Koki Saito and Kwame Poku. Jake Cooper and Mark Sykes converted for Millwall to seal the win. Millwall are back in Championship action on Saturday when they visit Bristol City, while QPR travel to Portsmouth.
