Aberdeen have officially announced the signing of Belgian forward Mitchi Ntelo. The 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with an option for a further 12 months. He arrives from Swiss side Yverdon-Sport, with the transfer fee undisclosed by mutual agreement.
Manager Stephen Robinson was quick to talk up the new addition, pointing to Ntelo's versatility as a major plus. "We have been monitoring Mitchi for a while and are delighted to finally bring him to Aberdeen. He is tall, extremely quick and just as comfortable through the middle as he is out wide. Most of his goals have come from the center, but we believe he has everything needed to be dangerous on the flanks. He gives us another dimension and healthy competition in attack," Robinson said.
Ntelo came through at Standard Liege and made a strong impression during a loan spell with MVV Maastricht. He later featured for Charleroi and Lokomotiv Plovdiv before joining Yverdon-Sport two years ago. Following the club's relegation from the top flight, he moved on loan to Botev Vratsa, where he hit the ground running with 6 goals in his first 6 starts.
The striker is relishing the next chapter in Scotland. "This is a big step for me, joining a club with fantastic support and a rich history. I am proud to be here. When I found out a club like Aberdeen wanted to sign me, I desperately wanted this move. I am well aware this is one of the biggest clubs in the league," Ntelo said.
