Varfolomieiev's assist helps Lincoln City knock Derby County out of the League Cup

Ivan Varfolomieiev marked the new season with an assist as Lincoln City beat Derby County 2-1 away in the round of 64 of the League Cup. The Ukrainian midfielder set up Ben House's opener in the third minute. Dom Jefferies doubled the visitors' lead, and Sammy Szmodics pulled one back for Derby before half-time. Lincoln won League One last season to earn promotion to the Championship. Their first league match of the new campaign is against Middlesbrough on August 15.
