River Plate complete signing of Thiago Almada

River Plate have confirmed the signing of Thiago Almada, with the 25-year-old Argentina midfielder joining from Atlético on a three-and-a-half-year contract. The deal, reported at €20 million, is the most expensive incoming transfer in Argentine football history. Botafogo, which owned 50 percent of Almada's rights and sold him to Atlético for €21 million, is also set to benefit. Almada joins after a season of 40 appearances, four goals and two assists.
