A consortium of influential businessmen, which includes Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has advanced significantly in negotiations to acquire about 30% of the shares of the English football club "Liverpool". This is reported by the authoritative publication sources.
The main actors of the potential agreement:
Amit Bhatia (group leader): British-Indian millionaire businessman and son-in-law of Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal. Bhatia has vast experience in managing football assets, having been a director and co-owner of London club Queens Park Rangers (QPR) for 18 years before giving up his stake last month.
Jeff Bezos: American billionaire, founder of the e-commerce giant Amazon and the fourth richest person in the world. According to Forbes, his fortune is currently estimated at a whopping $256 billion (around £192 billion).
Eduardo Saverin: Billionaire and famous co-founder of Facebook.
Fenway Sports Group (FSG), which currently owns the Merseysiders, confirmed last month that the aforementioned group had expressed an interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool FC.
It is worth noting that American investors from FSG bought Liverpool in 2010 for just £300 million. The owners of the Anfield team are quite open to working with new partners: they have already sold a minority stake to global sports investment firm Dynasty Equity.
We will remind, earlier it became known that the architect of the championship unexpectedly left Liverpool.
