Arsenal have opened talks with West Ham over a possible transfer for winger Rhys Nelson. According to Standard Sport, the club from East London has already approached representatives of the Gunners to discuss the availability of the 26-year-old winger. Nelson is not part of Mikel Arteta's plans for the new season. The footballer returned to Arsenal after a two-year spell on loan and is currently in the final year of his current contract with the club. The Englishman spent last season in Brentford. He also previously played on loan for Fulham. Arsenal are now interested in finalizing Nelson's future and finding him a permanent club. West Ham are eyeing Reece as a potential signing ahead of the new Championship season, according to a source. The Hammers are preparing to fight for a return to the Premier League and have already received a positive signal from Arsenal regarding the possibility of a transfer. Nelson is a native of the London club and has made a total of 90 appearances for the first team, scoring eight goals. At the same time, his contract situation and lack of a place in Arteta's plans make a full transfer this summer the most likely option.
