In the capital of Spain, the 28-year-old Argentine is seen as the main reinforcement for the defense of Diego Simeone. Madrid want to complete the transfer before the start of the new La Liga season. Romero himself has already made it clear that he is interested in moving to Spain. The defender prefers Atletico, despite interest from Inter and Arsenal. It is expected that the transfer could cost the Madrid club around 40 million euros. Atlético's financial situation has improved this summer after several sales, allowing the team to be more active in the market.
