Arne Slot explained why he refused to lead the Netherlands national team

Arne Slot will not lead the Netherlands national team, despite the interest of the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) in his candidacy. The specialist explained that at this stage of his career he wants to continue working at the club level.
"At this stage of my career, I prefer to see myself on the training field with my players every day. It's just not possible in the national team in the same format.
One day it would be a great honor for me to represent my country as a head coach. However, now was not the best moment for me," Voetbal International quoted Arne Slot as saying.
It was previously reported that Slot and the KNVB were at odds over the terms of a potential contract. In particular, the coach wanted to sign the deal for only two years until the end of Euro 2028, while the federation insisted on a four-year contract that would also cover the 2030 World Cup.
Slott left Liverpool at the end of the season and was seen as one of the main candidates to replace Ronald Koeman. However, the coach has now made it clear that club work remains his priority at the moment.
