Xavi is the head coach of the Netherlands national team

The Netherlands national team has been without a head coach this summer following the sacking of Ronald Koeman following the team's exit from the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup by Morocco. After that, the local football leaders started looking for a new manager for this position and reviewed a considerable number of options. However, the candidacy of Spanish coach Javi Hernandez did not appear in the press until the last moment. Suddenly, the day before, the name of the 46-year-old specialist appeared in the media, and within a few hours there was a message about the signing of a contract until 2030. Thus, the Spaniard returns to work for the first time since his release from Barcelona in the summer of 2024. At the same time, Xavi became the first coach of the "Oranje" who was not from the Netherlands at the head of the national team of this country in more than half a century - before him, the German Georg Kessler was distinguished.
