Sunderland agreed to transfer Metali for 25 million pounds

Sunderland continue to add to their squad ahead of the start of the new season, having agreed the transfer of 20-year-old Toulouse left-back Dayan Metali. The transfer fee will be a solid 25.6 million pounds. The clubs have already reached a full verbal agreement on financial terms. The transfer will be paid in two parts: a guaranteed payment of £23.9m + an additional £1.7m in possible performance payments. Last season, Metali became an important cog in the mechanism of Toulouse. He made 28 appearances in France's Ligue 1 and shone at the bottom of the league, scoring two goals in his last three games. His confident performance helped the team take a high ninth place in the standings. Already next Saturday at 17:00 (Kyiv time) Sunderland will open the new Premier League season with a match against Ipswich Town. This campaign will require maximum squad depth from the club as the Black Cats will compete in European competition for the first time in 53 years.
