Carrick is disappointed with Manchester United's loss to AC Milan

The head coach of Manchester United, Michael Carrick, said that the team has no excuses after the painful defeat against Milan (2:4). It is symbolic that the Italian club is currently headed by the former coach of the Mancunians, Ruben Amorim. The defeat was only United's second in a run of six summer pre-season games.
Before that, the team showed good results, in particular, defeating Atletico Madrid and drawing (1:1) with the European champion Paris Saint-Germain. Despite the poor result, Michael Carrick tries to look for the positive, but does not hide his disappointment with the performance of the defense.
"Overall, the pre-season has been very good and I think there are a lot of positives to take from it. But we are disappointed with today. We didn't play well and there are reasons for that. In a way, we need to learn from it and improve. In any case, no excuses, we just didn't play very well today," Carrick said in an interview with the club's MUTV channel.
An important event of the match was the return of Marcus Rashford. The forward came on in the 60th minute, wearing a United shirt for the first time since December 2024, after returning from a loan spell at Barcelona in Spain.
"A lot of guys will get in better shape after getting playing minutes. We have a good lineup, so we will have to make difficult decisions about the starting lineup," concluded the head coach.
The official season in the Premier League for Manchester United will begin on August 22 with an away match against the newcomers of the elite division - Hull City.
