Amorim frankly commented on the victory over Manchester United

After the emphatic victory over his former club, the Rossoneri head coach made some scathing statements about his lack of sentiment towards the Mancunians. The specialist, who previously spent 14 turbulent months at Old Trafford, used the press conference to dot all the dots on and about his past and future.
Amorim categorically rejected the assumption of the press that the game against his former wards had a special emotional connotation for him. The coach made it clear that his thoughts are completely related to the new project.
"No. It was just an ordinary match for me. Since signing the contract with Milan, I don't feel anything towards Manchester United. I'm proud that I was at this club and I still love it. But after moving to Milan, I don't feel anything bad, because I'm very happy. I'm exactly where I want to be and I just want to continue working here," Amorim stated categorically in an interview with broadcaster Sport Italia.
The Portuguese noted that the victory over the English giant had an exclusively pragmatic purpose — to set the team and fans in the right order before the start of the official tournaments.
"Of course, playing against them was special in its own way, but my only goal was to win. We wanted to present ourselves well, create a good image for our fans, so that they will strongly support us in the first match of the championship," the coach added.
The plan worked as Milan ran out 4-2 winners thanks to goals from Samuel Chukwueze, Alfajo Cisse, Gonzalo Ramos and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
No less important were Amorim's comments regarding the internal situation in the Milan locker room. Talking to journalists, the coach clearly articulated that past merits do not guarantee a place in the starting line-up for anyone, even the main star of the team.
Commenting on the status of Rafael Leao, Amorim said that the compatriot will have to fight for his place. The coach emphasized the high competition in the attack, singling out Christian Pulisic and Alexis Salemakers. At the same time, he reassured fans by confirming that Leao's recent injury is not a serious threat.
The head coach also shed light on the absence of several key players. According to Amorim, goalkeeper Mike Megnan and Adrien Rabiot were given extra time off at his personal request. The French stars will return to the club's venue this Sunday to join the final stages of preparations ahead of next week's Serie A opener in Turin.
