Artem Bondarenko, the midfielder of Shakhtar Donetsk and the national team of Ukraine, has every chance to continue his career in the championship of Saudi Arabia.
According to sports journalist Walid Saeed, the local club Al-Ahly is in the final stage of negotiations regarding the transfer of the 25-year-old player. It is reported that the parties have already come as close as possible to reaching a full agreement, so the official registration of the agreement may take place in the near future.
An important factor in this transition is the figure of the head coach of the Saudi team - currently Al-Ahli is headed by Marino Pusic, who previously worked with Bondarenko at Shakhtar Donetsk and knows his capabilities well.
Artem is a pet of moles. Over the entire time of his performances as part of the miners, the midfielder played 169 matches, in which he scored 34 goals and provided 29 assists. Together with Shakhtar, Bondarenko became the champion of Ukraine four times, twice lifted the national cup over his head and once won the Super Cup of Ukraine.
If the deal is officially closed, Bondarenko will become only the second Ukrainian football player in history to play in the top division of the Saudi Pro-League. The pioneer in this direction was the former goalkeeper of Dynamo Kyiv Maksym Koval, who successfully defended the colors of Al-Fateh in the period from 2018 to 2022.
