Manchester United are in talks with Bruno Fernandes amid Galatasaray bid

Manchester United have opened talks with Bruno Fernandes over a new contract amid a lucrative offer from Galatasaray. This is reported by insider sources. The Turkish club are willing to pay the 31-year-old Portuguese 20 million euros a year, but Fernandes himself is currently determined to continue with Manchester United. The midfielder's current contract runs until the summer of 2027 and includes an option to extend for another season. Previously, Fernandez's contract contained a €65 million release clause that was only valid for foreign clubs. Its term of validity has already expired, and Manchester United does not plan to sell its captain. The club also claims that they have not received any official requests regarding the player's transfer. Galatasaray's interest in Fernandes arose against the background of the Turkish club's active transfer campaign. In recent years, Istanbulites have already signed star footballers, including Viktor Osimgen and Leroy Sane. Fernandes returned to training at Manchester United in early August after playing for Portugal at the 2026 World Cup. In pre-season training, he took part in the last three friendly matches of the team. Last season was one of the best in the Portuguese's career. Fernandes has scored nine Premier League goals and provided a tournament-record 21 assists in a single campaign. At the end of the season, he also received the award for the best football player of the year according to the Football Journalists' Association of England. Fernandes has been with Manchester United since January 2020 and has made 327 appearances for the club, scoring 107 goals. He has been the team captain since the 2023/24 season. Despite the player's desire to stay, the parties have not yet reached a new agreement. Negotiations are ongoing, with Manchester United looking to keep hold of one of their key players amid increased interest from Galatasaray.
