The Football Federation of Senegal announced on its official website the appointment of the new head coach of the national team, who became Patrick Vieira.
The details of the agreement with the 50-year-old Frenchman have not been disclosed.
"This strategic choice marks a new stage in the FSF's desire to form a high-class coaching leadership that fully meets the sporting ambitions of our country.
Negotiations between the parties regarding the administrative and contractual terms of his taking office are ongoing.
The date of the official presentation of the new head coach of the national team, as well as the next stages of his assumption of office, will be announced additionally," the FFS said in a statement.
Vieira's last place of work was Genoa, which he left last fall. He also worked with Strasbourg, Crystal Palace, Nice and New York City.
It should be noted that Vieira, despite his French citizenship, was born in Dakar, the capital of Senegal.
In his new place, Patrick replaced Papa Tjava, with whom Senegal reached the 1/16 finals of the 2026 World Cup, where they lost to Belgium in extra time.
