Newcastle could abandon the idea of signing central midfielder Juan Palinha. According to the media, the transfer of the 31-year-old Portuguese to the English club currently looks unlikely.
One of the main reasons was the fears of the football player's family about moving to Tyneside. In particular, Palinha's relatives are not satisfied with the lack of regular direct flights between Lisbon and Newcastle, which would make it difficult to travel to Portugal.
Bayern offered the midfielder to Newcastle last week, but talks between the clubs have not actually progressed. At the same time, according to the source, the English side was even ready to provide Paligny's family with a private plane for regular trips to matches and visits to the football player.
Currently, Benfica is considered the main contender for the Portuguese. Also, Aston Villa continues to monitor the situation surrounding Palinha, which previously agreed with the player on the terms of a personal contract.
Palinha played on loan for Tottenham last season, and the rights to him belong to Bayern. Munich bought the midfielder from Fulham in the summer of 2024 for 51 million euros.
