Ezri Konza has officially joined Arsenal in London, completing his £51m move from Aston Villa. After lengthy negotiations, the clubs reached an agreement that also includes up to £4 million in bonuses. The contract is for four years with the possibility of extension for another season. "It's a privilege to be here and I can't wait to get started. I want to keep winning, I want to win and that's what I'm here for. It's a proud moment for me and my family to play for one of the best teams in the world," Konsa shared his emotions. It is known that Arsenal also considered the candidacy of Jarrell Kwansa from Bayer Leverkusen, but in the end the Londoners settled on Konsi. Ezri leaves Aston Villa as a key player, having made 286 appearances for the Birmingham side since joining from Brentford in July 2019. He made 48 appearances (2 goals, 1 assist) last season, helping Unai Emery's side finish fourth in the Premier League and qualify for the Champions League. In May, he also played a part in Villa's historic Europa League triumph, the club's first major trophy since 1982. The defender was indispensable in Thomas Tuchel's England squad at the World Cup this summer. Konsa played all the matches of the tournament, where the English reached the semi-finals (losing to Argentina 1:2), and later won bronze medals, defeating the French team (6:4). Because of his participation in the tournament, Konza received an extended holiday and missed Villa's pre-season training, including the UEFA Super Cup match against PSG (a 1-2 loss).
