Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has assured fans that the club will be very active in the transfer market in the coming weeks, although some key deals may only be closed in the final days before September 1. This summer, the Reds have already managed to make several acquisitions: Ronald Araujo joined the team on loan, Jeremy Jaquet and Victor Munoz were also signed. However, the priority for the Merseysiders remains to strengthen the attacking flanks. The club is currently in active negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain regarding the transfer of striker Bradley Barkola. Meanwhile, an attempt to sign Brighton forward Yankuba Minte has failed, with the Seagulls rejecting Liverpool's official £50m offer. "We will definitely sign some players. We will have to wait until the end with some deals. The main thing is the picture we will have on September 1, because now we are still quite weak," Iraola said. The coach admitted that the situation when the season has already started and the transfer window is still open is stressful for the coaches. Despite this, he emphasized the importance of signing players of the highest level: The team is sorely lacking in depth in the wing positions. In other positions, the club is monitoring the market to find footballers who will really strengthen the foundation, not just increase the number of players. Now the coach's main focus is on preparing for the upcoming Premier League match against Newcastle United. Iraola also confirmed serious changes in the structure of the team's leaders. Following the departure of Andy Robertson, the coaching staff have chosen new vice-captains to support Virgil van Dijk. The leadership group included goalkeeper Alisson, as well as outfield players Joe Gomez and Dominik Soboslai. It is interesting that Alisson will not actually be able to wear the captain's armband. Iraola explained this with the new refereeing rules: if a controversial situation arises in the opponent's penalty area, the referee must explain his actions to the team captain. As the goalkeeper is physically unable to run across the pitch every time, the armband will be worn by other vice-captains in van Dijk's absence.
