0
Inter Milan completed the transfer of 25-year-old Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones. The English footballer signed a long-term contract with the Serie A champions until the summer of 2031. The total transfer fee was €35m (around £30m). Under the terms of the deal, Liverpool are guaranteed €30m (£25.7m), with another €5m (£4.3m) in performance bonuses for the player. In addition, the English club retained the right to 10% of the amount of the next sale of Jones. The transfer epic around Jones lasted more than one month. Back in January, Inter made an attempt to rent the player with the right of redemption, but was refused. Liverpool rejected a €25m (£21.7m) verbal bid from the Italians in June, valuing their youngster (who was out of contract in a year) at £35m. In the end, the Merseysiders agreed to a compromise. The club's management decided that a £30m package - similar to what Inter recently paid Tottenham for Jed Spence - was acceptable to complete the deal. Curtis Jones has been in the Liverpool system since the age of nine. He made his debut for the first team in 2019 under Jurgen Klopp and made a total of 228 appearances for his hometown club. Having won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the KChS. The midfielder made 49 appearances in all competitions last season, but struggled to establish himself in the Premier League starting line-up under Arne Sloto (only 18 appearances from the opening minutes). This became one of the key factors for finding a new challenge. Interestingly, Jones has become the third English footballer to join Inter Milan during this summer's transfer window. Earlier, defender John Stones joined the Nerazzurri squad
