Central midfielder Artem Bondarenko will continue his career in the Saudi Arabian Championship. The 26-year-old Ukrainian midfielder moved from Shakhtar to Al-Ahly on loan until June 30, 2027. Under the terms of the agreement, the Saudi club will have the opportunity to buy the rights to the player. Bondarenko is a pupil of Shakhtar and joined the club's academy in 2016. In March 2020, he made his debut for the first team. In total, the midfielder played 169 matches for the Donetsk club, scoring 34 goals and providing 29 assists. Together with Shakhtar, Bondarenko won national trophies seven times: he became the champion of Ukraine four times, won the Cup of Ukraine twice and the Super Cup of Ukraine once. Al-Ahly has established itself among the leading clubs in Asian football in recent years. The team from Jeddah won the last two AFC Champions League draws - in 2025 and 2026. The club also finished third in the Saudi Arabian Championship last season. The team is headed by the former head coach of Shakhtar Marino Pushych.
