Srna: We are in a football frenzy

The sports director of Shakhtar Donetsk Dario Srna shared his opinion about the current state of Ukrainian football. The "miners" official believes that the Ukrainian Premier League needs reform, namely, reducing the number of participants to 12 teams. "I don't think that we are moving in the right direction. I mean Ukrainian football. I say this as a football fan and the sports director of Shakhtar. The facts speak volumes about this. Last year Shakhtar sold two key players. This is Sudakov and Kevin. Instead, we bought three 18-year-old players. Any coach would say: "What do you want from me? Both the championship and the Conference League..." We sat down, talked and went our way - the miner's. Won the championship, reached the semi-finals of the Conference League... And today we have three teams that lost in the European Cup qualifiers. And we are not moving in the right direction. UAF must make serious decisions - they will be painful, but they have a tomorrow. We have 16 teams now... Unfortunately not 18. 16 is a step back... 12 teams is a step forward. I have spoken about it and will continue to speak. Of course they all have to vote, but who will vote against themselves? The Federation should make a leadership decision that gives a chance to develop Ukrainian football correctly. Today we are not on the right track. This is demonstrated by the results: Kyiv Dynamo didn't even get to Europe... Polissya and LNZ fought, but the fact remains. We are in a football situation," said Dario Srna in an interview with Dmytro Gordon.
