Arsenal winger Tzolis shrugs off Vinicius Jr speculation

Arsenal winger Christos Tzolis has dismissed speculation linking Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr with a move to Arsenal before the transfer window closes on 1 September. The Greece international joined Arsenal from Club Brugge in July for €40 million after racking up 51 goal contributions in 52 games last season. He has effectively replaced Leandro Trossard, who left for Besiktas, and made an early impression in pre-season by scoring in Saturday's 4-1 win over Girona. Asked by media about the possibility of Arsenal signing another left winger, Tzolis said: "Obviously I'm confident as a player, so I don't think about the future and what the club will do in this position. I'm thinking [about] how to improve and settle as fast as possible in the club because I have the opportunity to train directly with the team from the beginning of the season, to play the friendly games and then to go to official games. "So it's a chance to play directly from the beginning - and then it's up to me to show the qualities and what I can bring in the team. I'm pretty confident that I will show it in the next games." Arsenal are understood to be monitoring Vinicius Jr's situation at Real Madrid. The Brazil star has three options: sign a new contract, leave on a free transfer in 2027, or join the Gunners this summer. Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen to tie the Brazilian down to fresh terms, but Real Madrid have not been willing to meet his salary demands, leaving the talks at an impasse. Negotiations are expected to intensify this week after Vinicius returned to the club following the World Cup. Arsenal are waiting in the wings and, according to reports, Arteta's side are ready to do whatever it takes financially to sign the 26-year-old as they look to defend their Premier League crown and win the Champions League for the first time.
