Liverpool plot stunning €60m Arsenal raid Make us your Google favourite Liverpool are showing an interest in Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri , who could yet leave the Gunners this summer. The 19-year-old is currently in limbo in North London. Despite impressing in pre-season, Nwaneri was omitted from Arsenal's squad for Sunday's Community Shield victory over Man City. According to insider , the youngster will definitely leave the reigning Premier League champions before the summer transfer window shuts. Mikel Arteta, who has waxed lyrical about Nwaneri over the past fortnight, evidently feels that he can't give him the minutes he requires. Last week, the manager said: "I want him to be at the club... [but] Ethan needs to play football, and if he stays here it’s because we can guarantee that he can have those minutes. Otherwise, it's just something that is not good for anybody, I think." Nwaneri, who was of interest to Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund last year, is fielding interest from new suitors this summer. Galatasaray, RB Leipzig and particularly AC Milan have been linked with the teenager. Liverpool admire Nwaneri In recent days, Milan seemingly emerged as his most likely destination, but a move for Nwaneri - at least a permanent one - appears to have gone cold following the Rossoneri's agreement to sign Strasbourg winger Diego Moreira. The Serie A giants have agreed to shell out potentially as much as €50 million on the Belgium international. After spending €74m on Goncalo Ramos, this new outlay means that they will have to sell before they can bring in more players. And this state of affairs could be exploited by a somewhat surprising club. According to Anfield Sector , Liverpool are showing an interest in Nwaneri. The Reds are said to "appreciate" the England youth international. Whether that interest will be formalised and turned into an approach isn't clear yet. Nwaneri is capable of playing on the wing and centrally. His long-term future is probably as a No.10, and he could serve as an understudy to Florian Wirtz at Liverpool, but he could also be tested as a potential Mohamed Salah replacement on the right. The question is whether Liverpool are ready to splash the cash on a player who, on the face of it, may not be a guaranteed starter. sources contributor Steve Kay understands that Arsenal would want around €60m for Nwaneri. A sale of the teenage prodigy would represent pure profit on Arsenal's books, which is important as they are still planning to sign a centre-back this summer and potentially a left-winger. They would surely be loath to sell Nwaneri to a direct rival, though. However, with Liverpool desperate for attacking reinforcements, this story will be one to keep an eye on between now and the end of the window.
