Arsenal Accelerate Talks for Bruno Guimaraes as €82m Offer Looms; Tzolis Deal Confirmed
0
Arsenal are making significant progress in their pursuit of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, with sources indicating the Brazil international is eager to move to the Emirates Stadium. After weeks of negotiation, the Gunners are reportedly preparing a formal offer of £70 million (€82m) for the 28-year-old, though Newcastle are expected to reject the bid as it falls well short of their valuation. The Magpies have grown frustrated with outside attempts to unsettle their captain, and the fee has been described as a ‘non-starter’ by local reports. While Newcastle are close to signing Aladji Bamba from Monaco, that move is not seen as a replacement for Guimaraes, who has not submitted a transfer request.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have officially completed the signing of Greek winger Christos Tzolis in a deal worth €40 million (£34.1m). The club announced Tzolis has signed a long-term contract, though the exact length was not disclosed. He becomes the third summer arrival at the Emirates, following defender Piero Hincapie and goalkeeper Illan Meslier.
In other news, Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott is understood to prefer a move to Arsenal over other suitors. Chelsea had a €75 million (£64m) bid turned down by the Cherries, who insist Scott is not for sale. Arsenal have also had an enquiry rejected. Manchester United are also admirers of the 22-year-old, but according to The media, Scott would choose the Gunners if given the opportunity, although he has concerns about playing time.
