Arsenal on alert as Real Madrid issue Vinicius ultimatum and Guimaraes fee is agreed

Arsenal's Friday transfer agenda has two major storylines. Real Madrid have reportedly told Vinicius Junior they will sell him to Arsenal if he rejects their latest contract offer, with Marca claiming the La Liga club have given the 26-year-old an ultimatum. insider sources reported last Saturday that the Gunners were exploring an ambitious move for Vinicius, who has one year left on his deal with Real Madrid.
sources's Sami Mokbel, writing in a Q&A on the outlet's website, says Arsenal are confident Vinicius would join if he refuses to sign a new contract with Real. Mokbel described the potential package as one of the most expensive in British football history in terms of fee and wages, and said the club believe they have the financial means to complete the transfer, while also stressing that plenty of uncertainty remains before a deal can be done.
Bruno Guimaraes is also moving closer to the Emirates. L'Equipe report that Arsenal and Newcastle United have agreed a €90million (£76.9m) fee for the Newcastle captain, putting the midfielder in the 'final stages' of a switch to Mikel Arteta's side. The Premier League champions have made the 28-year-old Brazil international their primary midfield target for the 2026-27 season, with sources reporting earlier in July that Guimaraes had told Newcastle he wants to join this summer.
Arsenal previously saw bids of €70m (£60m) and €80m (£70m) rejected, but L'Equipe understands the two clubs have now reached an agreement in principle.
