Bournemouth's Alex Scott Turns Down New Deal as Premier League Giants Circle

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has rejected a contract extension, throwing his future into fresh uncertainty as some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs monitor his situation. The 22-year-old England Under-21 international is the subject of strong interest from Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea. sources reported back in June that Arsenal had already made an approach for Scott, only for Bournemouth to knock it back. Securing Scott on new terms was supposed to be one of the Cherries’ top priorities this summer, but no agreement has been reached. With two years remaining on the deal he signed after his £25 million move from Bristol City in 2023, the south-coast club now face a pivotal decision over his future. Scott’s development has been rapid. He joined Bristol City from Guernsey FC in 2020, racked up 91 appearances for the Championship side and was named the division’s Young Player of the Season in 2022-23. Since arriving at Bournemouth, he has made 89 appearances and scored six goals. He played a key role in helping Andoni Iraola’s side secure a sixth-place finish in 2025-26, which earned the club a first-ever Europa League qualification. On the international stage, Scott was selected in his first senior England squad last November and was later called into Thomas Tuchel’s extended pre-World Cup training camp in Florida, though he is yet to win his first senior cap. The news comes during a busy period for Premier League midfield transfers. Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson is set to join Manchester City for £116 million, while Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers is heading to Chelsea for £117 million. Tottenham have already spent big, bringing in Sandro Tonali from Newcastle for £100 million and Mateus Fernandes from West Ham for £85 million.
