Ederson extends Atalanta contract after Man Utd move collapses

0
Adam Millington, sources journalist and , Chief football news reporter Brazil midfielder Ederson has signed a contract extension at Atalanta after the collapse of his proposed move to Manchester United. The Old Trafford club had agreed a £35m fee for the 27-year-old on 2 June. A plan for him to have a medical at the start of July had to be scrapped when Ederson received a late call-up for his country's World Cup squad following an injury to Wesley. He eventually underwent a full medical after initial tests in the United States flagged an area of concern. Ederson flew to England for the required tests, which took place in the wake of Brazil's World Cup last-16 defeat by Norway. Specialists were involved and the outcome led to United backing out of the transfer. While sources had told sources the deal could be resurrected later in the summer, albeit at different terms, the player has now extended his contract with Atalanta. The Serie A side did not announce the length of his new deal. Michael Carrick's men have recently signed midfielders Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos from Aston Villa and Chelsea respectively, as well as goalkeeper Karl Darlow from Leeds United.
