Celtic close on €10m Hassan move but Tahirovic links are dismissed and Ghedjemis chase stalls
0
Celtic are closing in on a breakthrough for Real Oviedo winger Hassan, but the picture is less positive on two other fronts as the club tries to finish its summer business.
The Scottish Premiership season has already started, and while Kasper Hogh and Camilo Duran have arrived to boost the attack, Celtic are still working through a demanding to-do list. The goalkeeper position remains an issue after Kasper Schmeichel retired, with Las Palmas' Dinko Horkas the current target. Celtic are also facing the possibility of losing Arne Engels, who has reportedly agreed terms with West Ham.
Benjamin Tahirovic had been mentioned as a possible replacement for the Belgian. Brondby coach Thomas Norgaard has said the Bosnia and Herzegovina midfielder is in the process of leaving, but journalist Farzam Abolhosseini has dismissed the Celtic link completely.
"That story about Tahirović heading to Celtic, there's simply nothing to it. Nothing," Abolhosseini said.
The chase for Farès Ghedjemis has also become more complicated. Celtic wanted the 23-year-old in January and have since had an offer rejected by Frosinone, with Rangers also seeing a bid turned down. Monaco have been rebuffed as well, yet the French-born Algeria international is reportedly keen on a move back to his native France, and the Principality club are preparing another attempt.
There is good news, though. Celtic are increasingly confident of agreeing a deal for Hassan, the Real Oviedo winger, with significant progress reported. The Hoops have put together a package worth around €10 million for the Egypt star, who is said to be eager to move to Parkhead. An agreement could be reached as early as Friday.
