Inter Milan in Advanced Talks to Sign John Stones on Free Transfer

Inter Milan have opened advanced negotiations with John Stones over a free transfer, with the England defender available after his contract at Manchester City expired at the end of June. The 32-year-old centre-half has attracted significant interest from clubs across Europe, including Chelsea and Juventus, but the Serie A champions have held positive discussions and are understood to be leading the race to secure his signature on a two-year deal. Stones leaves City after eight trophy-laden seasons. He joined from Everton for £47.5 million in 2016 and went on to make 295 appearances, winning six Premier League titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups, five League Cups, three Community Shields, the Club World Cup and the Uefa Super Cup. On the international stage, the former Barnsley man has earned 93 caps for England and was part of the squad that finished third at the World Cup. Inter now hope to add his experience to their backline as they prepare to defend their domestic crown.
