Hill sends clear message: Scott's focus remains on Bournemouth

James Hill has issued a clear message on Alex Scott: the Bournemouth midfielder remains fully focused on the Cherries despite Chelsea's strong interest. Scott, 22, has become a major transfer target in recent weeks. Chelsea have already made an opening offer worth €75 million, but Bournemouth rejected it. The club has no intention of selling the England midfielder before the summer window closes, even though Scott has turned down multiple contract extension offers and is reportedly keen on a move to Stamford Bridge. According to team-mate James Hill, the transfer noise has not affected Scott during pre-season. Hill told the Daily Echo ahead of Tuesday's friendly against Genoa: "I think obviously it is massive, obviously keeping hold of these incredible football players going into this season because this season will take their quality as well. You wouldn't really notice those things are actually happening from the way these boys have trained. Alex, obviously [Eli Junior] Kroupi, they've been absolutely amazing in training. Their only focus at the moment is Bournemouth." Chelsea's interest is easy to understand. Scott was one of the Premier League's best midfielders last season, and while his Estimated Transfer Value of €41.9m makes Bournemouth's asking price look steep, the club has every right to hold out. The England man has excellent close control, consistently looks to play forward and does important defensive work. He is the complete No. 8, and his composure in possession is a major reason why Chelsea want him. Even so, a deal looks unlikely. With Valentin Barco signed and Jordan Henderson expected to arrive, Chelsea would probably need to sell Enzo Fernandez before the September 1 deadline to make space for Scott.
