Man City to submit new Enzo Fernandez bid - Romano Make us your Google favourite Manchester City are set to submit a formal bid for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez before the end of the summer transfer window. The Argentina international has been earmarked as Enzo Maresca’s primary target ahead of Deadline Day on 1 September, and Man City are ready to intensify talks over a blockbuster deal after reaching an agreement to sell Nico Gonzalez to Newcastle United. Man City have overseen a major midfield overhaul so far this summer, with Elliot Anderson and Ayyoub Bouaddi arriving to replace Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders and Bernardo Silva, and they are now pushing to finalise a deal for Fernandez. It’s understood that Chelsea are willing to sell the 25-year-old if their €140 million asking price is met and while Man City were originally reluctant to make Fernandez their most expensive signing of all time, their stance is believed to have changed. The eight-time Premier League champions are now set to step up talks with Chelsea over a transfer and insider has confirmed that an official offer will soon be lodged as City look to finalise a deal ahead of their next Premier League fixture versus Crystal Palace on Friday night. “Manchester City are set to send a formal bid before the end of the window for Enzo Fernandez,” the transfer expert posted on X. “Man City want to try again and Enzo has opened doors to the move. Chelsea maintain they only sell if money is right and if they can improve their squad.” What has Xabi Alonso said? When asked about Fernandez’s future at the club after Chelsea’s 3-2 win over Fulham on Monday night, Alonso told broadcaster Match of the Day : “In football, I am not surprised by anything. We will see. My wish is that we know what will happen for the future but we will see this week.” Fernandez replaced Romeo Lavia in the second-half at Craven Cottage, and it could prove to be his final appearance for Chelsea if Man City are able to finalise a deal this week. Chelsea are expected to rekindle their interest in Bournemouth star Alex Scott if Fernandez is sold, although Marco Rose’s side have repeatedly insisted that a sale will not be sanctioned this summer, having already rejected multiple bids since the window opened.
