Official: Chelsea send Genesis Antwi to Strasbourg in 26th summer deal

0
Chelsea have officially sent Genesis Antwi to sister club Strasbourg on a season-long loan, making the 19-year-old the 26th player to join or leave the Blues this summer. The teenager is regarded as one of the most promising defenders in Chelsea's academy and is expected to play a major role at Strasbourg next season. That opportunity should open up even further with Guela Doue reportedly set to be sold permanently before the window closes. Antwi, a Sweden U21 international, made 31 appearances for Chelsea's youth teams last season, scoring two goals and providing six assists. His standout attributes are electric pace and constant willingness to overlap from right-back, while he also defends strongly in wide one-on-one situations and stays composed in possession. Those qualities helped Chelsea win the Premier League 2 regular season title last year. The move makes Antwi the 14th player to join Strasbourg from Chelsea since BlueCo bought the Ligue 1 club in 2023, and the first academy starlet to make that switch on loan. Gabriel Slonina, Filip Jorgensen and Mykhailo Mudryk have also been linked with summer moves to Strasbourg. Chelsea's summer business now covers 26 completed deals. The club have spent around €389 million on 11 new signings, including Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix, Marco Palestra, Geovany Quenda, Valentin Barco and Danny Welbeck. Sales have brought in €133.8 million, with Andrey Santos, Marc Cucurella, Tyrique George and Jimmy-Jay Morgan leaving permanently. Eight more players have gone out on loan, while academy trio Frankie Runham, Chris Atherton and Joseph Wheeler-Henry have also departed.
