Chelsea Could Derail Man United's Summer Plans in Crysencio Summerville Chase
0
Chelsea may hold the key to whether Manchester United can land one of their top attacking targets this summer.
Crysencio Summerville, the Netherlands international winger, is drawing serious interest from several clubs after impressing at the World Cup. West Ham, the side he helped keep up last season, are now preparing for his departure following relegation. Both Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with the 24-year-old, and Paris Saint-Germain have also explored a move. But the latest twist comes from Italy.
According to insider, Summerville's representatives are in Rome right now — not for him, but to finalise Danilho Doekhi's free transfer from Union Berlin to Lazio. Once that deal is done, they will sit down with Roma to discuss Summerville.
That is where Chelsea come in. Roma are also deep in talks with Chelsea and Strasbourg — both owned by BlueCo — over winger Diego Moreira and a player identified as Garnacho. Chelsea want a permanent sale for Garnacho; Roma prefer a loan with an option to buy next year. Offers have already been made for both players, with Moreira's move looking the more likely.
This gives Chelsea a direct hand in Summerville's future. If they push Garnacho to Roma, they remove a competitor for the Dutchman. If they hold firm on their Garnacho demands, Roma may pivot fully to Summerville, potentially blocking United's path.
But Roma's financial muscle is limited. West Ham are reportedly holding out for around €60 million, though whispers of a lower release clause persist. If the Hammers stick to that figure, Roma — already struggling to meet Chelsea's €50m asking price for Garnacho — will likely struggle to match it.
For now, the situation remains fluid. Roma's transfer talks are heating up, and a significant winger domino could fall soon.
