Chelsea have officially announced the signing of teenage midfielder Harrison Bettoni from Wigan Athletic, with new manager Xabi Alonso already making waves in the transfer market. Bettoni, 18, made 27 senior appearances in League One last season and has joined the Blues on a free transfer after his contract expired. Chelsea will pay Wigan an undisclosed compensation fee for his development since U13 level. He has signed a deal running until 2030. Meanwhile, Alonso confirmed during his introductory press conference that winger Alejandro Garnacho has been transfer-listed. The Argentine, who only arrived last summer, is available for €50 million. Alonso said: "We have spoken with the sporting directors and there is interest in him from other clubs. Let's see how it develops." In a separate development, Chelsea remain in talks with Rayo Vallecano over left-back Pep Chavarria. The Blues claim the LaLiga side initially indicated a €15m fee but now demand €25m. Chelsea could trigger his €50m release clause but prefer a structured deal. They are preparing a new bid that meets the valuation through add-ons and remain optimistic. Alonso also addressed the future of midfielder Fernandez, who has requested to leave after Chelsea missed out on European qualification. Real Madrid have publicly ruled out a move. When asked if he wants Fernandez to stay, Alonso replied: "Yeah, yeah." In other news, Manchester United have signed Chelsea midfielder Santos for a fee that could rise to €59 million. The 22-year-old Brazilian has agreed a contract until 2031 with an option for a further season.
