Chelsea Transfer News: Zubimendi Ruled Out, Gusto Priced at €87m, Fernandez Eyed by City

0
Arsenal have shut down any talk of Martin Zubimendi leaving this summer, ending Chelsea's hopes of signing the midfielder. Reports of a sensational move to Stamford Bridge had surfaced this week, fueled by the mutual appreciation between Zubimendi and new Blues boss Xabi Alonso. The 27-year-old grew up idolising his fellow Basque, and Alonso had tried to sign him for Real Madrid last year, but Zubimendi had already committed to Arsenal. Chelsea's interest, however strong, is a non-starter. Chelsea are willing to listen to offers for Malo Gusto. The French full-back's future at the club has been questioned since the arrival of Marco Palestra, and reports suggest Gusto is open to leaving. Chelsea would reportedly consider bids in the region of €87 million, though many clubs believe that valuation is well above market value. Manchester City view Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez as their dream replacement for Rodri, whose future is again the subject of intense speculation. Rodri was previously linked with Real Madrid and is now reportedly wanted by Barcelona, with claims that he has already approved a move. City are reluctant to sell, but confidence is growing in Spain that Rodri ends up at Barcelona, which would put Fernandez at the top of City's list. Brentford striker Igor Thiago, meanwhile, is not going anywhere this summer. Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham have all shown interest after his breakout Premier League season, but Brentford do not want to sell. The report insists there are no circumstances under which the club would entertain offers. A move to Chelsea also looks unlikely given the number of striker options they already have.
