Xabi Alonso confirms he wants to keep Enzo Fernandez at Chelsea amid €140m exit rumors

Xabi Alonso has made it crystal clear that Enzo Fernandez is part of his plans at Chelsea, despite swirling speculation about a €140 million departure.
Speaking at his first press conference as Chelsea manager on Monday, Alonso revealed he has already spoken with the Argentina midfielder ahead of his return from the World Cup. When asked directly whether he wants to keep Fernandez at the club, the Spaniard’s answer was simple and firm: “Yes.”
Fernandez, 25, has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in recent months, with reports suggesting he was eager to join Real Madrid. However, interest from the Spanish giants has reportedly cooled after Chelsea placed a €140m price tag on the player. His contract runs until 2032, and after selling Andrey Santos to Manchester United for €58m, the club is in no rush to part with another midfielder.
Alonso did not share details of his conversation with Fernandez, stressing that what was said remains private, but his public backing leaves little doubt about the club’s stance.
Meanwhile, Alonso also addressed the futures of Alejandro Garnacho and Nicolas Jackson. The Argentine winger, valued at €50m, is expected to leave Chelsea on a permanent deal this summer. “There is an interest from him, from other clubs, so let's see how it develops,” Alonso said. “Hopefully it finishes in the best possible way for all parties.”
Jackson, the Senegal striker who spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich after a bust-up with former boss Enzo Maresca, will return to the squad. “He is joining the tour that we are starting in Asia, and I am looking forward to starting with Nico at that time,” Alonso confirmed.
