Roma pivot to Summerville as Garnacho deal stalls, Chelsea face tough sale

Chelsea’s hopes of cashing in on Alejandro Garnacho for a cool €50m have hit a roadblock after Roma sat down with representatives of West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville, per reports in Italy.
Garnacho, who joined the Blues from Manchester United for €46m last September, managed just one Premier League goal in a difficult first season at Stamford Bridge. New Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso has already made clear the Argentine is not in his plans for 2026-27, telling the press Monday: “Hopefully it finishes in the best possible way for all parties.”
Transfer guru insider reported Tuesday that Garnacho is open to joining Roma, but the Serie A side would prefer a loan deal while Chelsea insist on a permanent transfer. Chelsea value the winger at €50m for non-Premier League clubs and €52m for English sides.
Now Italian daily Corriere claims Roma have turned their attention to Summerville, 24, who bagged seven goals last season for a West Ham side that suffered relegation to the Championship for the first time since 2011. However, Roma may also struggle to meet West Ham’s asking price – believed to be around €58m.
Roma are also monitoring Strasbourg’s Diego Moreira, rated at €35m, as boss Gian Piero Gasperini looks to strengthen ahead of a Champions League return. The 21-year-old scored five Ligue 1 goals in 2025-26 and helped Strasbourg reach the Europa Conference League semi-finals.
