Newcastle complete £34m capture of Monaco midfielder Bamba

Newcastle United have wrapped up the signing of Monaco midfielder Aladji Bamba in a deal that could reach £34m, the club confirmed on Thursday. The 20-year-old Frenchman put pen to paper on a five-year contract after passing his medical on Tyneside. He becomes the fourth incoming player of a summer window that signals a clear pivot in Newcastle’s recruitment approach. “I was very excited when I heard Newcastle were interested in signing me,” Bamba said. “I know about the history of the club and I’ve visited the stadium already, which is amazing.
