Reece James in race to face Norway as England's right-back crisis deepens; Henderson ruled out

England's medical team is pushing hard to get Reece James ready for Saturday's World Cup quarter-final against Norway, hoping the Chelsea defender can help solve a growing crisis at right-back.
James has been sidelined since straining his hamstring in England's second group match against Ghana two weeks ago. He has not trained with the squad since, but instead of heading home, he chose to stay in the U.S. in hopes of being available for the knockout rounds. He did take part in the pregame warm-up at the Azteca Stadium on Sunday, a positive sign that he is recovering.
With Thomas Tuchel's options severely limited, James is being fast-tracked. Djed Spence is still not fully fit despite a late cameo against Mexico, and Jarell Quansah is suspended after his red card in that match. An appeal may be filed, with a decision expected later today. Ezri Konsa filled in at right-back in a back five in Mexico City and could start there in a back four against Norway, with John Stones slotting into central defense.
Remarkably, England have used six different right-backs in five games at this World Cup.
In other injury news, Jordan Henderson has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament. The 36-year-old Brentford midfielder suffered a serious arm fracture while celebrating England's dramatic 3-2 win over Mexico at the Azteca. He landed awkwardly after hopping over an advertising board, fell, and broke his arm. He remains in a Mexico City hospital and may require surgery. Henderson did not travel with the squad to their training base in Kansas City and had played only six minutes in the tournament, coming on late in the group win against Panama.
